Got Gist? Got Dipset Vol. 8

Tom Gist is not your average Harlem or even Dip Set rapper. If anything he's a throwback to the boom-bap era, kinda reminds me of O.C., imagine O.C. in Dip Set & you get Tom Gist. I doubt if Tom ever becomes a household name, but he definitely will have a career with or without the Diplomats.

Diddy & Felix Da Housecat present Lectro Black – Last Train to Paris MIXTAPE

While to some this may seem like an odd pairing it isn't. Diddy & Felix have been working together for at least 5 years, it's just that the projects never leave the studio...until now. Lectro Black – Last Train to Paris is a nice mix of what we've come to expect from Felix, but not so much with Diddy. While some may try to say Diddy is jumping on the bandwagon, I say what BANDWAGON, house & dance music will NEVER be mainstream in the US, so by even making an album of this genre he's taking a HUGE CHANGE. If you do not like to dance, party or smile, don't bother with this joint..but if you do GET IT!!!!

Havoc – From Now On… [Mixtape]

I really don't have much to say about this one because I'm very bias when it comes to Mobb Deep. They basically provided 50% of my highschool soundtrack. Matter fact, they made what should be hip-hop's national anthem. This mixtape is dope, it's f*cking Hav from the M-O-Double B! Featuring Freeway, Lloyd Banks, Dilla, Raekwon, etc.

Mishka presents: Ninjasonik – Darth Baño mix

Every once in a while hipsters make good.

From webpage...

Ninjasonik has always been known – and liked – for their left of center music that falls somewhere between Digital Underground and GG Allin. First it was art school girls, now it’s Mexican Star Wars. The rap-slash-indie-slash-punk-slash-electronic outfit from Brooklyn is back at it again but this time with Telli the rapper’s alter-ego Darth Baño.

This time Darth Baño is in the form of a mix in conjunction with native BK neighbors Mishka. The mix features an all-star cast of musical guests such as Spank Rock, Theophilus London, The Death Set, Blaqstarr, Hollywood Holt, Johnny Nelson, Zakee Kuduro, and many more. Highlights not only the musical genius of Telli, but also the vast and highly eclectic influence of Mishka, Darth Baño silences anybody who thinks Ninjasonik only knows how to write songs about tight jeans and the internet. It’s a mixtape, better yet an album, better yet a movement. Get involved.

Trey Songz f. Drake, “Successful” MP3

This is a new version of “Successful,” originally from Drake’s So Far Gone mixtape, now slated for Trey Songz new album, just popped up. Songz adds a nice verse and it’s still a constant singalong in this office as we scrape together change for subway fare.

Spoek Mathambo, H.I.V.I.P: United States of Ayobaness Mix

What’s great about Spoek’s periodic H.I.V.I.P. mixes is that he always mixes these ungoogleable songs with stuff we already love but aren’t used to hearing next to South African house or what have you, like Dam Funk’s remix of Red’s unbelievable one-man anthem “I Should Tell Your Momma On You,” which closes out this edition right out of What What’s intensely bubbly “Dreams.”

Amber Rose - Complex Magazine Spread

I don't know much about this chick Amber Rose personally (nor care to) but she is FINE. Like got damn wtf did Kanye find this bitch? Here is a photo shoot & interview she did with Complex.

Did you always have an eclectic style growing up?
Yea, I always looked up to Slash from Guns N’ Roses. I had every single poster of Slash in my room. It was crazy because I grew up in an all-black neighborhood and everybody I went to school with was black. I was the only biracial looking girl in my school, and Slash was biracial too, he was just a fucking rock star. I always wanted to play the guitar. I’ve tried, but other things came up.

Recently you’ve been thrust into the world of TMZ and Perez Hilton. How have you been dealing with the gossip blogs?

This is my life, this is how my life’s been since I was a kid. I’ve always been popular, my name has always been in somebody’s mouth in high school. I don’t lose no sleep over this shit. Some of the stuff, when it’s extremely far-fetched and stupid, I just laugh. I don’t lose a minute of sleep over this.

Xmas in August! Not only do you get Killa Cam, but now you get King Britt (one of my favorite DJ's & also featured on here a few times like HERE) has released a FREE FREE FREE instrumental album, here's what he as to say about it!

Swiped from Five Six Media!

Sometimes in the studio, I feel I have too many options. Too many software choices, synths, etc. I felt like I needed to go back to the essence of making beats. So I dusted off the MPC2000 and grabbed stacks of wack from my library to make beats. It was such a wonderful feeling to just flip beats again. Wasn’t even thinking of releasing them, just an exercise for my brain.

The fun part was that I only used the floppy drive. Only 12sec of sample time for each joint.

All kicks, snares and sounds are all from records. Mixed raw, right out of the MPC stereo outs. Done in 1 week in April 2009 (one or two oldies thrown in for good measure)

Just some boom bap vibes for all my peeps who just love a good loop…

Enjoy and share !

Amir Sulaiman - "When I Die (rebuild) featuring Mos Def"

Amir Sulaiman has been around for a while now, tv appearances, live shows, cd's etc. I first saw him in Tallahassee, FL on a show hosted by the MSA of FSU. He is amazing live, your mood will definitely change after hearing his words, this joint is no different. I will say that while most of his songs have a universal message, this joint is kinda for the Muslims & I like it! Also the Mighty Mos Def does his thing on here as well.

TiM aka theimagination

TiM aka theimagination is a cool cat, we met at the WMC in Miami in 2007. Lately he has been a busy dude, creating beats and melodies in his former electro funk duo group Four Track Minds and working on his upcoming solo project Movements to be released in the fall.

Bio from the Myspace page:
TiM is graph designer, music composer and educator. Influenced by artists of a wide range from Allen Ginsberg to Dr. Dre, Sonic Youth to The Ramones, Kraftwerk and Lee Scratch Perry to Sizzla, TiM’s mission is to express musical beautifulness and to extend the legacy. TiMs percussion laden electronic-funk induced creations show his influences reach far beyond the ones stated above. Some would describe his music as electronica or soulful experimental movements with various artists on vocals. TiMs first hand in production was with a Chicago-based group known as BRIO. As an observer and occasional beat contributor, TiM began learning from the varied styles of funk, broken beats and dance electronic tracks from DJ Steve Maestro in Chicago and appreciate the styles of other composers around the globe.
Making a home in Brooklyn, NY and Los Angeles, TiM is currently working with other artists on experimental projects whenever the opportunity arises. For more information or inquiries regarding music production/ beats/ sound design, email

The Odd Couple - Georgia Anne Muldrow & Dudley Perkins

Note: I am calling them a couple because they are often MUSICALLY paired. I do not know ANYTHING about their personal lives, I just know "some" of their music.

A pal of mines Pine recently put the song "Roses" on his blog. While not her biggest fan I still consider myself a fan of Georgia Anne Muldrow, I never knew her well but we ran in the same circles in L.A. & have a few mutual friends. She is very talented & I don't ever remember hearing a song by her that I did not at least kinda like. The songs roses is no different, it's beautiful. But I am not a fan of her friend Dudley Perkins. I just cannot get into his music, I do like ONE song of his. It is called "Testin Me"...but only because of that Madlib track. Oh one true gripe I have is that he (Dudley) gets FIRST PICK of any batch of tracks that Madlib makes, hahaha. Maybe it's just me & I'm not funky enough, but I doubt it. I'll agree to disagree, not a fan of his music, his worldview is dope tho!

VIDEOS: Yung Joc, Clipse, Playaz Cirle, Ludacris, Brother Ali, Jadakiss

Yung Joc - Posted At The Store (feat. Yung Ralph & Gucci Mane)

I like this shit, it uses the hook from Gorilla Zoe's Hood Nigga. Not a fan of Yung Ralph not because he's wack or mediocre, etc...but because he's cheapening the brand of Ralph Lauren. Oh & Ignant azz Gucci Mane does his thang on this shit! Like this is totally kinda not like him & the comparison I'm about to make is TOTALLY off the wall (hee hee) but on this song he kinda reminds me of Dave (Trugoy) stylistically (not lyrically or skill-wise) in like 1991-1993 when Dave was just a styler, listen to "Let The Horns Blow" to get an idea of what I'm talking about. Maybe its just me.

Clipse - I'm Good (feat. Pharrell)

This is the best song out right now, no bullshit.

Playaz Circle (Feat. Ludacris) - Gettin Rich

While this ain't dufflebag boy good, it ain't bad. Til Luda gets on & it becomes the sickest shit out lol!

Brother Ali - Us

The new album by Brother Ali entitled "US" will available worldwide September 22nd.

Jadakiss & Boozy Bee - Live My Life (feat. Jaenom) [In Studio]

ChefStack automatic pancake machine - zOMG!!!!

Is this real? If so why did it take til 2009 for it to be invented. If this is some kind of cruel joke then I'm putting a root on you! It costs over $3500.00 USD but its worth it!

Found at SLASHgear!

Major Lazer "Pon De Floor".

I'm only putting this video up because Skerrit Bwoy is in it. He's my fucking hero! Look what he does to this lady (And I use that term loosely) right here (click here)...see now he's your fucking hero too!

I kinda think the whole Major Lazer thing is kinda boring, but I appreciate dem for putting Skerrit in the video.
